I've been having an issue with RAW (actually .NEF) files containing custom white balances and software on my Mac. I shoot Infrared images with the white balance set to make the green foliage go white, making the sky go kind of coppery. When I look at the thumbnails of these files in the Finder, Photoshop (CS2, CS3), iPhoto, Nikon View or Lightroom they look correct. As soon as I want to edit them, they lose the white balance I set in favor of looking black and red (what the camera actually "saw") and there's no way I've found to get the custom white balance back.
I tried it on a friend's PC laptop using the free version of Nikon View and it worked like it should. I was able to save the images as TIFFs and open them on my Mac.
Anyone else ever seen this occur or have any suggestions?
That's odd

I don't think so. It seems
