I am, without a doubt, an Apple fanatic or fan in extreme... however, since upgrading from "Tiger" to "Leopard", I have found the mail.app application to be buggy in ways that have really caused me to rethink using it. The problems I seem to have are shared by the other users that I know who've done the upgrade...
Specifically: Rules and the execution of same. Now, custom sounds that are attached to rules are randomly executed, sometimes as the mail arrives and other times as you close mail. I am waiting, patiently, for others to verify this situation with their Leopard upgrades.
Leopard has improved mail for me
Wed, 01/09/2008 - 20:26 — JamesI had more problems in Tiger than I do now in Leopard. No issues with Rules on my end, but I have not attached sounds to any rules, so I can't speak to that issue.
For the most part, Leopard has improved Mail for me. However, one part that I've found to not work to my liking is the way it handles IMAP. Ugh!
Apple .mail
Tue, 01/22/2008 - 12:41 — willymackI am an old mac user from way back and continue to use Netscape Navigator 7.2 as a browser because it affords easy internal access to netscape mail and all its features (achiving etc.)
I would like to use Thunderbird internal to firefox or Mac Mail with Safari but find it inconvenient when browsing to have to open up another application when I get a sound that tells me I have new mail.
Any suggestions on how to incorporate a mail program in one of these browser applications?
iPhone
Fri, 01/25/2008 - 20:46 — gambuchiWell with whetted appetite, I ventured to AT&T and dropped my $399 usda approved genuine all American cash on a new iPhone. I see what all the hype was about and must confess that I am infatuated with this lovely device. It makes calls just fine, manages, after the 1.1.3 update to find me albeit not in close proximity to my physical location, and it does most everything else as advertised.
Now, about the issue of SMS texting... AT&T of course says they support it and also MMS texting (for me a more common type of texting, however, They don't trouble shoot too much regarding Apple's iPhone. They hand off the problem to Apple who then tells me that the phone can't handle MMS texting/pictures.
Odd, though that it can display photos,it can play movies via YouTube, it can display graphics via Safari. My question I suppose at this juncture is if the phone can actually display all these things,
why then does Apple choose to send us to a website "viewmymessage.com"
which I might add is down far more often than it is up.
Mail Stationery
Mon, 06/01/2009 - 15:07 — supersinger52I am running Leopard and had to re-install my Mail application. Now it doesn't show the stationery samples when sending a new message. Tech support disconnected me (after getting my number "in case we were disconnected" but didn't return the call) and I have no answer. Clues? I already got some freeware samples but this is puzzling and irritating too!
