Time for a forum CSS re-think, James?

That whole white BG behind the lime-ish colored text on a gray table is really quite horrible.

It's very disturbing, visually. It makes the lines look like they're attached to each other; in certain cases, character descenders are cut off or overlaid by the white, and the white also overlaps those separation lines in the thread indices.

It's always a YIKES! moment for me when I see it...looks like a mistake, when the rest of the site is so well defined, designed and put together.

Digital Download Help?

Hello.

I have a client that wants to do digital downloads with his vinyl releases.

Here's my problem:
I'm not sure how to do it.

For example; he has 500 records. He wants to generate 500 numbers to include with the vinyl where they can then use this code for a one-time download of the record via a page with the mp3s.

Is there a way this can be done?

Getty Images Copyright Demand Letters

My associate received a letter from Getty Images today demanding $3600.00 for 3 images they claim they own copyright for.

Wonder if anyone else has received such a demand and how have they treated it...

While I respect copyrights, I am alarmed at a company being able to demand an arbitrary fine and threatening legal action.

(Apparently the "offending" images were used of a compilation CD of royalty free images that were several years old.)

Previewing .abr files

Is there a way to preview photoshop brushes before you load them into PS? I tried Bridge because it seemed like a plausible option, but no luck.

If I do load a crapload of brushes into PS will it slow down launch/performance?

Is there a script/action out there that will automatically make a contact sheet of each brush in the set? (and lets you specify the size at which they output?)

Is the iPhone 3G worth the cost?

I've been waiting for a long time for the iPhone 3G to be released. When the day finally came, the huge price drop and added features seemed to be the deal clincher.

Then I read about how AT&T is INCREASING the price of the monthly contract to $70, up from $60.

Oh well... yet another great Apple product I won't be getting.

Is anyone else frustrated by this AT&T iPhone monopoly? I just can't justify paying nearly $90 per month (after taxes and bullshit fees from AT&T) for a stinking phone - I don't care what it does.

Hello everyone-

I am in a situation where I am not sure what to do and if anyone has an opinion, I would love to hear it.

For the past several years, my small design firm has been working with a company to create the brand, logo, identity, website design, all print collateral and product packaging. Basically if it had to do with the look, I created it. This company has recently been sold and I was told after the fact. The new owners have been given the logo, hard copies of all the printed material (and whatever lo res PDFs they had) and the website.

The new owners have been contacting me asking for all the files, I have told them I would be happy to work with them and they seemed interested, but keep asking me to just send them files (which I haven't sent any) What rights do I have with the work? Transferring of all the work process files was never discussed with or okayed by me NOT part of the sale of the company.

I have offered to make changes to the various documents so they can reprint, etc, but they don't want seem to want to pay for any of these services. Do I charge them a file release fee for each file? Do I offer them a buyout for all the files? Do I charge hourly to just collect and transfer the files? What are the appropriate fees for each of these scenarios?

Thanks so much in advance for your help- I appreciate any and all ideas and input!
