This free script for Adobe InDesign outputs the file with proper supporting CSS and JavaScript to a “fixed layout” type of HTML format, that looks and behaves just like a fixed layout EPUB, with the big exception that each page is output as a single HTML file.

Adobe Illustrator
David Deraedt offers Layer Exporter, a panel for Adobe Illustrator which you can obtain for free via the Adobe Exchange. If you’re a web designer or developer, this nifty panel will make your life easier by exporting individual layers in various web formats.

When exporting as JPG from Adobe InDesign, most users export an entire page, then do any cropping necessary in Photoshop. But there’s an easily missed feature that allows you to export only what you want.
Simply select the object(s) on your InDesign page that you want to export before hitting Command + E (File>Export) and choosing JPG from the drop-down menu. When the JPG Export dialog box appears, tick the Selection button at the top before setting your other JPG options. InDesign will export a flattened JPG the size of your object(s) at your specified resolution and color mode.

A friend recently asked what happened to the ability to export color separations from Adobe InDesign CS5 to a PDF using custom page sizes. I’ve never heard of or had the need to do this, so I was of little help. But for whatever reason, I was able to do it because I still had the generic Postscript PPD installed. The only thing I could think of was that I still had CS4 installed on my Mac, and the ability to do it remained in CS5 because of that.
In any case, my friend discovered the work around, and shared with me where he found it. Russell Viers offers the solution, that requires little more than a quick PPD download and install. Again, I’m not sure why you would want to do this because your printer generally handles this in-RIP at their printing facility. You really need to know what you’re doing when you enter the settings.
Adobe Photoshop
If you’re like me and dread the thought of setting up custom workspaces when you install Adobe Photoshop on a new computer, or reinstall it for whatever reason, there is a simple solution.
I have all my Photoshop panels set up on my 30″ LCD in the perfect spot, and my keyboard shortcuts set up the way I prefer, so starting from scratch is a pain.
Thankfully, John Nack (Adobe Photoshop Product Manager) shared a script that one of the Adobe engineers wrote to export and/or import your customized Workspaces. You can download the Workspaces script here. Details can be found in this post on John Nack’s blog.
Adobe InDesign
If you’re always in a rush, you can bypass the PDF Export Options dialog box in Adobe InDesign by holding down the Shift key when choosing a setting from File>PDF Export Presets, just name the file. This is perfect when you have a lot of InDesign files to export with the same settings.
