Good question! We only have as far back as CS4, but I did a quick text only file in CC 14 and it opens CS4. Something more complicated and with newer features used in the original layout would surely wreak havoc, so beware.

How far back a version will an IDML file created in InDesign CC (2014) open? CS5? CS4? Earlier?

Grouping colors into folders seems like one of those features that should have been in a *much* earlier version of ID after people were forced to scroll down the gigantic list of swatches. Thank goodness I found the “delete unused” colors option at some point…

I’m not seeing this feature (on collect for output). Wonder why… Using CC 2014
