Do you actually know what you’re installing?
With Suspicious Package, you can answer this question and more. Maybe you’re quite literally suspicious of a package you’ve downloaded. Or perhaps you’re just curious about what some package does. Or maybe you want to find out after the fact exactly what files a package scattered across your computer. Whatever the reason, Suspicious Package allows you to see inside an application installer package.
Suspicious Package is a free utility with a Quick Look plugin for the Finder, so you don’t even need to launch an app, just select an installer package file in the Finder and hit the Spacebar. Up pops a Quick Look window with a whole ton of details about the package, including what files get installed and where.
I love this little utility, if for no other reason than it allows me to confirm my gut feeling about any particular app before I install it. In this day and age of security issues, you can’t be too careful.
