I live on the most southeastern area in the continental US, have very modest internet, yet my apple iOS updates are always trivial since 1.0 forward. Could it be a DNS issue maybe? I use openDNS instead of Comcast. I wonder if Apple use Akamai for iOS CDN? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akamai_Technologies

Keeping the phone awake is easy, just disable lock screen. Although I never bothered to do so while updating OTA and it wasn’t a problem.
Easy peasy. Not sure why such a 1st world problem rant.

I have extremely fast download times, but any updates that come from Apple remind of the days when you only had access to dial up connections. Painful coming from a company that has money and people that could certainly fix this.
