Great info. I’m looking to replace a 15″ 2006 MacBook Pro Core Duo with a 13″ MacBook Air i7 and it’s been a little hard finding reviews that deal specifically with running a Creative Suite. The more I read about everyone’s experience with the Air’s SSD the closer I am to ordering my new replacement. Thanks again!

Awesome post. I have a 2008/2009 Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB Ram that does me well, but has been giving me some lag with my day to day. I utilize CS5, which tends to be the programs I utilize with the highest ram usage. I was worried about the Air’s performance, but this feels like, from you have said, that it probably wouldn’t be a problem. There really aren’t any people out there reviewing that particular software.

The macbook pros, other than being more expensive, are a little overkill, and I don’t even use the extra firewire, usb or optical drive much if at all. So why pay for something I won’t use.

Have you noticed any improvements or negative differences about the screen quality?

My 2008 Mac Pro is boxed up on the mainland, at a friend’s house, awaiting my beckon. I haven’t “needed” it — yet. (I’ve transitioned into photography from video post-production.) But I still have the distinct need for a “workstation”.

Although the little trooper I’m using now, DID power through a season of TV work in 2007 — my 12″ PowerBook is not cutting it any more. I need a workstation laptop and a “Now Laptop”. They might not be the same system. The band-aid may become the 13″ MBA. The “Now Laptop”.

This article has me leaning more in that direction….

I’ve been running CS5 on my MacBook Air with wonderful results! 9+ hours a day with little to no glitches (no more than normal anyway). Flash seems to want to start in whatever space you’re in, but Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign all boot up where they should (on Lion). Yeah, gesture support would be sweet, but I still think the Air majorly reduces bottlenecks with larger cache and a solid state drive — it just feels snappier.

i used one for around a week freelance. I had no problems using Adobe CS software, browsers, or office applications. Loved it!

My sister got her first mac–the new air–and after being amazed at the weight of the thing I’ve been trying to find designers and bloggers who use it. If I get one I’m selling my Pro for it, due to money issues, so it’s a big step. Much thanks for your review!
