Free vector art from Dezignus

There's no freebie like a vector freebie, I always say. Dezignus' site is full of them, including this beautiful floral border design, as well as Simpsons characters, stars, flourishes, icons, and other border elements.

This site breaks numerous copyrights and redistributes paid-for materials without permission. I'm glad it's down, hopefully for good.

I can't really see anyone hanging it out there to have themselves slapped with a hefty fine. Are you 100% positive that they're infringing on copyrights? Maybe they were granted permission to illustrate and distribute nationally recognized cartoon characters and other miscellaneous vector graphics created by artists that are okay with their work being used and shown globally. As long as they had this in place and the disclosure jargon that goes hand-in-hand with it, I'm pretty sure that they are allowed to post this work for free distribution.

I, myself, have in the past been legally allowed to illustrate several Hanna Barbara characters for the entertainment industry, and utilize various sports emblems for a merchandiser. I've also printed out cartoon characters from the net for my sons to colour without payment to anyone. So...where do we draw the line (no pun intended)?

I don't know anything about copyright infringements, so I'm not going to start tossing that around. I also don't know, though I suspect your may be right, about permissions.

I did notice that a lot of the material on his site came from a Russian site called ArtShare. In fact, Artshare.ru seems to have nearly all the same artwork.

That being said, it's not really my job to police the Internet, but it is (in a small way) my job to report it. So consider this nothing more than a report of a site which has a lot of vector art. How they got it, I dunno.
